We believe:

There is one true God, the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit.
Jesus is God incarnate, being both fully God and fully man.
All are sinners, alienated from God and in need of salvation to restore a right relationship with God.
Jesus died on the cross, was buried and rose from the dead on the third day.
Salvation does not depend on works, but is by grace alone, through faith alone, in Jesus alone.
The 66 books of the Bible are the inspired Word of God, true in all that they affirm and sufficient for establishing the faith and practice of the church.
All believers will dwell with God forever and all who do not believe will be judged and eternally separated from God.
The church is God´s means for proclaiming the Gospel and making disciples.

The Trinity
God the Father

God the Father is the Creator and Sustainer of all things (Genesis 1:1; Psalm 90:2). He is infinite, eternal, and unchangeable in His being, wisdom, power, holiness, justice, goodness, and truth (Malachi 3:6; James 1:17). He governs all things according to His perfect will for His glory and the good of His people (Romans 11:36; Ephesians 1:11).
God the Son

Jesus Christ, the Son of God, is the only Mediator between God and man (1 Timothy 2:5). He was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the Virgin Mary (Luke 1:35), lived a sinless life (Hebrews 4:15), and offered Himself as a perfect sacrifice for sin (Hebrews 9:26). Through His death and resurrection, He secured salvation for all who trust in Him (Romans 5:8; 1 Corinthians 15:3-4). He now reigns at the right hand of the Father and will return to judge the living and the dead (Acts 1:11; 2 Corinthians 5:10).
God the Holy Spirit

The Holy Spirit is the giver of life, the one who regenerates, sanctifies, and empowers believers (John 3:5-6; Titus 3:5). He convicts the world of sin, righteousness, and judgment (John 16:8), and He dwells within all who belong to Christ, guiding them into truth and enabling them to live for God’s glory (Romans 8:9; Galatians 5:22-23).
The Bible

We affirm that the Holy Scriptures, consisting of the Old and New Testaments, are the inspired, infallible, and authoritative Word of God (2 Timothy 3:16-17; 2 Peter 1:21). They are the final rule for faith and life, revealing God’s will and the way of salvation (Psalm 119:105; Hebrews 4:12). The Bible is composed of 66 books: 39 books in the Old Testament and 27 books in the New Testament, given by divine inspiration and preserved by God’s providence for the instruction and salvation of His people (Matthew 5:18; Isaiah 40:8).
Man

Humanity was created in the image of God (Genesis 1:27), but through Adam’s sin, all people fell into a state of sin and misery (Romans 3:23; Romans 5:12). Apart from God’s grace, mankind is spiritually dead, unable to seek or please God (Ephesians 2:1-3). Yet, through Christ, we are redeemed and restored to fellowship with our Creator (Romans 5:10; 2 Corinthians 5:17).
Judgment

God has appointed a day when He will judge the world in righteousness through Jesus Christ (Acts 17:31). The wicked will be condemned to eternal punishment (Matthew 25:46), while the righteous, clothed in Christ’s righteousness, will inherit eternal life (John 3:16; Revelation 21:3-4).
Salvation

Salvation is by grace alone, through faith alone, in Christ alone (Ephesians 2:8-9). It is not based on human works but entirely on God’s mercy (Titus 3:5). Those whom God has called are justified, sanctified, and will ultimately be glorified in His presence (Romans 8:30).
Eternal Life & Eternal Condemnation

Believers in Christ will enjoy eternal life in the presence of God, worshiping Him forever (John 14:2-3; Revelation 22:3-5). Those who reject Christ will face eternal condemnation, separated from God’s goodness and love (2 Thessalonians 1:9; Revelation 20:15).

What to expect

Casual or dress clothes, wear whatever you find comfortable. There is limited parking at the church, so it is best to find parking on the street or a nearby garage. If you come by train we are just two blocks from Avenida Paulista and the Brigadeiro Metro station.

One of our greeters will meet you at the door and can direct you as you enter the building. We start with Bible study and then worship together. Our service is traditional with hymns, Scripture reading, prayers and a message from God’s Word. After the service we have refreshments and a time for fellowship. You will find all levels of English speakers from beginners to native speakers and other languages as well.

Pastor Joseph Cullen Rast II:

Pastor Joseph Cullen Rast II, together with his wife Janet and their children, arrived in São Paulo in 1968. He completed his studies at Washington Bible College and Moody Bible Institute in the United States. The family served for ten years in Mato Grosso, teaching at the Centro de Treinamento AMI (Bible Institute for Indians). Pastor Cullen currently serves as president of Comunicações Evangélicas (COMEV), a non-profit evangelical ministry founded by missionaries. COMEV was responsible for some of the first evangelical music and radio programs in Brazil and provided audio support for Billy Graham’s crusade at Morumbi Stadium in the 1970s. Today, the ministry also distributes Christian films through www.comev.com. Pastor Cullen maintains an active radio ministry available online at www.atos420.radio.br.

Pr. Ken Davis

Pastor Ken Davis has served as a missionary in Brazil since 1988, focusing on church revitalization, theological education, and Christian publishing. He is the Executive Director of Edições Vida Nova and teaches hermeneutics, preaching, and Bible exposition at Seminário Teológico Batista Intensivo (Teresina, PI) and Seminário Martin Bucer (São José dos Campos, SP). Pastor Ken earned his ThM from Dallas Theological Seminary, specializing in cross-cultural ministry and theological education. Prior to his ministry, he worked as an electrical engineer, holding a BS from Michigan Technological University. He is married to Lucimar, and they have three adult children and two grandchildren.

What It Means to Be a Christian
Faith in Jesus Christ
